Messiah Lutheran raises over $50,000
in support of the Siberian Mission Project

On Sunday, January 25 2009 a Mission Festival and luncheon was held to present the final check to The SLMS and Rev. Vesolod Lytin, Bishop, Siverian Evangelical Lutheran Church who was also the Guest Preacher.

Over the last 3 years Messiah Lutheran has raised and given over $50,000 to The Siberian Lutheran Mission Society.  The Siberian Lutheran Mission Society (SLMS) encouraged, enables and supports the important work of Lutherans and The Siberian Evangelical Lutheran Church (SEC) in Siberian regions of Russia. These monies are used to provide infra structure to support the Siberian Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Pastor Lytin's 1/25/09 sermon can be heard at http://messiahdanville.com/feed/rss.xml

The growing Siberian Evangelical Lutheran Church (SELC) is a place where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is preached and the Holy Sacraments offered to sinners seeking forgivness and healing of body and soul.

While they may speak a different language, our Siberian brothers and sisters in Christ are baptized in the name of the same Lord and worship the same Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Our mission begins and finds its conclusion in the Word and Sacraments properly administered.

siberian missioin logo_resizeTwo years ago, our congregation voted to support a dedicated mission project.  We selected the Siberian Lutheran Mission Society (SLEC), we successfully raised &16,000 and will celebrate that success, and recommit to year three of a three year plan to make a difference to this mission.  We will provide an update and overview of the specific project we chose last year within the mission, that of purchasing a flat for the pastor.  And then, we will indulge in a wonderful Russian feast.  Afterwards there will be an opportuity to confirm/initiate next year's individual commitments.
